Things We Look For In New Members
We want ONLY the best people for our teaam.
To help determine if you fit the bill, here’s some information on what
we look for in a new member.
Forum Member
You
MUST be a member of our message
board. You don’t have to be on there CONSTANTLY, but many of us live
far away from one another, and our forum is our primary method of
communication with one another as a team. Everything including
analyzing each others evidence is discussed with our members, and all
official team communications are handled there. We talk about fun, and
more personal things there as well. Joining our board is all about
making sure that we all get along before making any team altering
decisions.
Note:
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Joining the message board, and posting one or
two times in the ‘Hi‘
category will not get you onto the team. It is very important that we
use the forums to gauge your friendliness, how you get along with
people, and GENUINELY get to know you, and vice versa. One or two
messages will do nothing to move that process forward. Time will. If we
cannot get to know you, we WILL NOT be able to trust you in a clients
home or business.

Age
You MUST be at least 18 years old
to become a member. It’s not that we believe that younger people have
nothing to contribute. Quite the opposite, actually. It’s because if we
were to take a minor along with us on an investigation, legally WE
would be held responsible if something bad were to happen.
Unfortunately, we cannot take that chance. By all means, join our
Message Board, let us get to know you, and when you turn 18, feel free
to apply for membership. |

Commitment
We need people who are committed to
the the work. Don't get me wrong. We're not saying that every free hour
of every day has to be devoted to the team. However, we all pull our
weight to help one another to help the team achieve more, and become
better. If you’ve signed up and joined us
because we needed someone to fill a position, and you agreed to do the
job, if you ignore your commitment to that job, we will have to find
someone else to replace you. |

An Open Mind
It’s funny. A lot of people get an
open mind confused with a closed one. Just because you believe in
ghosts or the paranormal, doesn’t mean that you’re open minded. There
are those that believe so blindly that even the slightest bump in the
night MUST be supernatural in origin. They don’t even consider the
possibility that it’s something natural. That mind is as closed as the
one that refuses to believe altogether. Your mind MUST remain open to
all possibilities, not favoring one type of explanation over the other.
We need people who are able to FORGET everything that they THINK they
know.

A Scientific Mind
We're investigators. We do not use
any type of paranormal methods to do our investigations. We want
people who are able to use scientific methodology, and NOT leap to
conclusions based on their own opinions or spiritual beliefs.
If our scientific methods come up with something we cannot explain,
THEN we can theorize and let our imagination go. Not before.

A Voice
What good are an open mind, and a
scientific outlook if you don’t open your mouth to express your views?
Answer… No good at all. Absolutely useless. Voicing your views and
opinions is probably one of the most important duties of one of our
team members. If one of our members brings us a piece of evidence, or
information that you believe to be invalid, you have an obligation to
tell us about it, and explain why you feel the way that you do. Anybody
can snap a few pictures with dots on them. We need someone who will
think beyond that, and be willing to throw their orbs away without
being too upset about it. There may be disagreements, and that’s fine.
It’s the best way to learn. All of our credibility rides on the
evidence we collect. If our evidence does not hold up to scrutiny, we
look like fools.
We need people who speak their minds. No members opinions are more
valid than another regardless of how long they’ve been with the group. |

Dependability
This should be a
‘no-brainer’. If I make a commitment to meet you somewhere, or do
something for you, then you can bet your life that I’m going to do it.
We expect the same in return. We’re not saying that you have to be
available for EVERY investigation. Just don’t say you’re going to be
there or do something, and then not show up. This isn’t only about
showing up and being there. It’s also about using your voice as stated
above. Even if you can’t go on an investigation for some reason, we
still must be able to depend on you to help do what else needs done. |

Friendliness, Respect, & Smiles
It seems that more and more in the
paranormal community, there are too many opposing beliefs, and too much
stubbornness to back down. Things become personal. People get into a
mentality where they feel that their views are more valid or superior
to others. Many of us have experienced in other organizations where
subgroups would pop up. Members who have been with the organization
longer than others would consider themselves to be the ‘real’
investigators, while everyone else would be deemed unimportant. Even
those in charge would condone, and support this sort of elitism. I want
to make it clear that The Beyonders are not like that, and will not
tolerate that line of thinking. Every member is important, and has a
right to be heard. We may have our disagreements, but it’s important to
never forget that we’re all equal, and everyone deserves to be treated
with respect and kindness. We’re all on the same side, here.
We want people who are kind, and friendly who share our ideals. Also,
knowing how to smile is a MUST. This is a team full of silly people.
We're serious about the work we do but the moment we aren't working the
jokes fly. It's important to fit into that group dynamic.

Lastly,
there is not, nor will there ever be a payment required to join or be a
member. There’s no paycheck either. This isn’t about money for any of
us.
