On May 18, 1927 in
Bath Michigan, disgruntled farmer and local schoolboard member,
Andrew Kehoe beat his wifes head in, and dumped her corpse in a
wheelbarrow near his chicken coop. He then detonated explosives in
the local schoolhouse which he planted within the year preceding the
murders. He killed 37 children and 2 teachers in the explosion. He
later returned to the scene and detonated a crude car bomb killing 4
more innocent bystanders including himself. This was the biggest school
killing in American history with 3 times as many fatalities as the
Colombine High
School Massacre. |
This is the location we had chosen to conduct our first paranormal
investigation.

Investigation Report |

|
The
Bath School Disaster Memorial
Park seemed like the perfect place for us to conduct our first
investigation because of its location. It's close to home for all of
us, and many of our members have explored the area, either solo or with
other organizations prior to joining The Beyonders.
If
you've
read the brief introduction to the location
above, you already know about the traumatic events that had happened
there. If you are interested in more details about the murders, there
are links at the bottom of this report to other informative sites which
I'm certain will give you some interesting reading.
Basics:
There were a lot of ideas
regarding things our
investigators wanted to try on this investigation, theories we wanted
to test. Some were more successful than others. It's a fact that most
of the people murdered were actually children. You'll notice that on
our list of equipment there is an item called "Misc. Childrens Toys."
Some of our investigators brought toys from home in order to hopefully
provoke any children that may still be there to try to play with them.
We brought video cameras along with to capture such an occurrence.
Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
On previous investigations, EMF sweeps indicated constant
and strong fields throughout the park, particularly in the Northeast
corner where large concrete debris
from the explosion
rested. The fields were strong but less than 10 MilliGauss.
It's commonly
believed that where there are readings of that size, there is the
possibility of paranormal activity. On the 29th,
yet again,
those readings were prevalent throughout the park. This time, however,
all EMF readings were ruled out by our team. What wasn't mentioned on
previous investigations were the power lines above the park, and more
importantly, the electrical outlets that are connected to posts
sticking out of the ground. With electrical currents above us and below
us, there's no question as to why there were high EMF readings.
Although there very well MAY be paranormal activity effecting EMF
fields in the park, the mere possibility of the power lines effecting
readings makes EMF meters in this location utterly useless and
unreliable.
Video:
Two of our investigators
were attempting to collect video evidence. One attempted
ITC(Instrumental Transcommunication) with one of our monitors, while
the other recorded the bell tower, and some of the toys for the
children. Both returned nothing substantial.
Audio:
We did get some interesting
audio recorded. Granted, as with all evidence collected in the
paranormal field, the audio files are questionable and open to
interpretation. With that said, every member of our group has listened
to these files. We've analyzed them and identified sounds and anomalies
that SHOULD NOT be there. They're there none the less.
(Click the image to listen to each file.)
|
This first EVP is of one of our investigators asking someone (or
something) to follow his lead, and knock on wood. The results are
interesting to say the least. If you listen, whatever it is seems to do
as it's asked. (Olympus
VN-960PC) |
|
|
This one is interesting. We've analyzed it, filtered it, and discussed
it. What we agree on is that there are sounds that may be anomalous
voice/voices present in the recording. Listen for yourself, make up
your own mind. Maybe you'll be interested in telling us what you
think. (Olympus
VN-960PC) |
|
|
This is simply a filtered version of the previous EVP. You may be able
to hear things more clearly. (Olympus

|
Photos:
There were also some
interesting, if not conclusive photos taken.
Orbs: The most common photos taken in
paranormal investigation. (Click the image for a larger view.)
|
The bell tower is one of the few remaining parts of the school still
intact in the park. Here, to the left of the tower, you can clearly see
2 orbs near the ground. There is also a very small one near the tree on
the right. (Sony Cybershot 6.0
Megapixel) |
|
|
Here is another picture of the bell tower. If you look, you will find
an orb in the bottom left portion of the picture. This one is different
from the orbs above. It appears much more solid, yet less defined and
blurred, as if it were in motion. (Kodak
EasyShare DX7630) |
|
|
| Yet another set of orbs.
This photo was
chosen because of the odd coloration of the anomalies. Why are they
green? Our team analyzed the photos, and none of them recall any green
colored lights or reflections in the area. (Sony Cybershot 6.0
Megapixel) |
|
Other Anomalies:
|
| If you look at the
dangling leaves on the
left of the image, close to the bottom of the branch, on a leaf, you'll
see a very bright anomaly. It's possible that this photo is of a simple
orb, but it doesn't have the traditional look of an orb. We can't see
the flash reflecting off a leaf like this. (Cannon Powershot A520) |
|
|
| There are two jagged lines
which descend
from the top on both the right and left side of the image. The anomaly
on the right is brighter than the one n the left. At this time, we have
no explanation for these anomalies. Hair and camera straps have been
considered as a possibility, but ultimately rejected. Bugs have also
been considered. That possibility also seems far fetched. (Sony Cybershot 6.0
Megapixel) |
|
 |
| Similar to the anomalies
in the photo
above, this one also features a jagged line descending from the top of
the image on the right. This one, however is colored differently. It
has a reddish hue to it, and you may also notice that the other
features on that side of the image also have a reddish discoloration. Cannot be a film defect.
It was a digital camera. (Sony Cybershot 6.0
Megapixel) |
|
|
| We have 2 anomalies in
this picture. We
don't know what to make of them. They seem to be akin to the anomalies
in the above two images, a thin streak of light. In this image, the
streaks of light seem to be rolled up and small. One is between the two
trees on the right. The other is to the left of it. If you look
closely, you may also see a couple faint orbs. (Sony Cybershot 6.0
Megapixel) |

Personal Opinions |
|

|
Consensus:
The investigation was very enjoyable, yet quiet, and
lacking in solid evidence. The evidence that we did obtain is not proof
of a haunting, but it does make it difficult to discount one. That in
itself is a definite step forward, and cannot be ignored. The
investigation was a success in that alone, but there's clearly more
work to be done.
|
"While I did collect some interesting pics, I
personally don't feel they have anything substantive to offer. The one
EVP I think I did collect was just a female groan, again not much to go
on."

|
|
"I really enjoyed my first time out with the Beyonders. I find the team
to be friendly, knowledgeable, down to earth, and genuine about finding
the truth to events and happenings that are paranormal or otherwise.
The investigation to the Bath School Disaster site was quiet and I
don't think we collected as much evidence as some have in the past, but
I believe in the future we will return to this site and perhaps have
more luck next time. What we did collect in evidence was exciting
though, and I'm already looking forward to our next investigation!"

|
"Although
the 'feeling' of the location and the investigation itself was relaxed
and uneventful that night, I offer the idea that more often than not,
there are hunts and investigations where all investigators go home
empty handed. With that said, as a group, I think we
put together a good amount of interesting photos and some questionable
audio. In my opinion, the evidence obtained in this investigation does
not prove nor disprove a haunting. Our evidence, leaves me with
questions, and solidifies the need for further study of the location.
This is a very capable group. If anybody's going to find out, and prove
the truth, it's them."
